Bio/Description

Olin Zimmet '26 of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania is majoring in Politics and pursuing a minor in Philosophy. He is primarily interested in self-determination and political autonomy, particularly with regards to the Inuit peoples of Greenland, Alaska, and Canada, and is conducting independent work in the Department of Politics on this subject matter. He also cares deeply about combating the problem of food insecurity at a local level; to that end, he spent both the summers of 2023 and 2024 assisting in the coordination of day-to-day operations at a food pantry, a role in which he had been serving since 2020. Alongside this role, Zimmet conducted research on the utilization of mental health resources by food insecure individuals. On campus, he works for Professor Allen C. Guelzo, transcribing a set of previously undiscovered letters from a Union soldier in the Civil War. He is a member of the Princeton University Sinfonia and the Princeton University Wind Ensemble, and is an undergraduate fellow of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions.
